The town enjoys a relatively civilized nightlife, except for Anzac Day (April 25) which commemorates the fateful landing of British, Australian, and New Zealand forces at Gallipoli. On this day, normally respectful daytime visitors shed any pretense of solemnity, fill up the bars, and empty the kegs. A quiet and tasteful alternative to the bars targeting Australian backpackers is TNT, Saat Kulesi Meydani 6 (Tel. 0286/217-0470), right in the center of town on the water.
